Lenoir Side Table

Built in 2021, the Lenoir Side Table centers on quiet details such as the sharp shadow lines, precise joinery, and rich natural wood grain.

This design is an adaptation from the Kent-Coffey MCM ‘Impact’ line, which was produced in Lenoir, NC through the 1950s and 1960s. I chose to keep the sculpted legs and overall presentation similar, but altered the proportions to fit my own preference and elevated the original design by replacing the mass-manufactured laminate construction with solid hardwood throughout.

This piece stands on long, gently tapered legs that sweep upward into a smooth, arched apron. The minimalist drawer pull is defined by the contrasting wood and recessed finger space that was carefully sculpted.

This design translates naturally into larger forms, such as a low dresser or highboy–where the repeated drawer pulls move from an understated accent to a central focal point.
